Babylon

The Fabelmans, The Banshees of Inisherin, and Everything Everywhere All At Once will definitely be nominated for Best Picture, and one of them will most likely win in that category. Avatar: The Way of Water and Top Gun Maverick were two movies that earned more than 1 billion at the box office and showed outstanding technical achievements. The only films on my list that might not be nominated are Babylon and Argentina 1985. I found Babylon excellent, intoxicating even, but it has a lot of flaws. One is that there’s no conflict for the first hour of the movie and that the movie is more than three hours long. Even so, the film is incredible, beautiful, and energetic. It’s something I’ve never seen before in a movie. Argentina 1985 may also not be nominated for Best Picture. If the Academy is going to nominate a foreign film for Best Picture, it could also be Decision to Leave or All Quiet on the Western Front. Personally, I found All Quiet on the Western Front a bit boring. The movie is beautifully shot, but it’s a war movie, and once you watch one war movie, you get the gist of them all. I haven’t gotten the chance to watch Decision to Leave, but the trailer alone is intriguing, and I really hope to soon.
Some other movies that might be nominated are Triangle of Sadness, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and sadly Elvis. Triangle of Sadness, out of all of these, is my favorite. It’s funny and similar to the show White Lotus but much darker, I would say. It’s a weird and unusual movie for a Best Picture nomination, so it probably won’t get one. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery also has a chance, but the film had its flaws, and it wasn’t as good as the first movie.
